Who we are.
We are Dolly’s Dream Home Rabbit Rescue, a foster based nonprofit located in and around St. Louis, Missouri.
Since becoming a licensed nonprofit about 2.5 years ago, we have taken in and rescued nearly 1000 bunnies. All are spayed/neutered, fully vetted, microchipped, socialized, litter trained, etc. prior to adoption.
We take all buns and don’t discriminate by breed, age, or ability. Our rescue is known for taking in severely special needs buns and giving them a chance. We’ve seen and used anything from physical therapy, to custom wheelchairs, etc. Unless it is in their best interest to be peacefully put down, we will exhaust all options to provide the best quality of life.
Our team does not euthanize for space or aggression. Bunnies are welcome to stay in our fully trained foster homes for as long as needed. While they’re here, they’re treated like family because they are family. That’s the Dolly’s Difference.
One of our main priorities is education. We have an education team who gives free virtual education courses several times a week. We have given them all over the world from Argentina, to Japan, to South Africa, and more. Education is key with bunnies, as there is so much misinformation out there. Every single one of our fosters and adopters is required to take this special course.
We believe in total transparency and have helped numerous other rescues begin. If you’re interested in starting your own, we will help get all of your processes in place, share our forms and contracts, etc. Rescues work better together and the animals definitely need more help.
Since we are an independent nonprofit, we are nearly 100% donor funded. We don’t have any government grants, no parent organization funding us, etc. Our team was fortunate to be able to open a bun supply storefront, where all proceeds benefit the bunnies.
Typically, we get about 80 surrender requests and dumped bunny requests per week but it is impossible to keep up. Our volunteer transport team, rescue team, and foster team all work during their free time to save as many bunnies as possible.
This organization has become larger than we could have ever dreamed of. Each day, we’re amazed by the outpouring of support for our work and we are so, so grateful. Thank you for supporting Dolly’s Dream Home.
Meet our core team.
Katie Kottmeyer
Katie is the President and Founder of Dolly’s Dream Home. She has 4 bunnies of her own - Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Bunny Holly, and Kenny Rogers. 3/4 were rescued from butchers. She spends her time running the rescue, going on walks with her 2 dogs, and working. She is Fear Free Certified.
Dori Glenn
Dori is our Foster Coordinator and Bunny Groomer! Whenever we get a matted bunny in, Dori is their first stop, as her dog grooming skills translate over well. When she’s not volunteering at our rescue, she’s wrangling her kids, fostering with a dog rescue, and putting a whole lot of good back into the world.
Camilla Wilkerson
Camilla is our Vet Coordinator. With hundreds of bunnies needing medical attention a year, this is a big job. She’s got 4 bunnies of her own and is finishing up her graduate degree. Currently she is getting her masters of arts in education with a focus on secondary mathematics.
Shannon Dvorak
Shannon is our Transport Coordinator and Bunny Bonder. Every time a bunny needs rescue, needs to get to a vet appointment, or needs to be groomed, Shannon makes sure they get there safely. She also is Fear Free Certified and ensures that bonding bunnies is done in a professional and stress free manner. If you meet her, ask her about Moose, the Flemish Giant who free roams her house!
