Wire Flooring

Although many breeders claim that rabbits are happy on wire flooring, this is not the case.

People argue that it keeps rabbits enclosures cleaner, but that’s only true if you were never to clean their enclosure properly which many meat and commercial breeders do not have time to do…or even care to do.

Wire flooring can cause foot fractures, as if the wire has gaps big enough for their poop to fall through, a rabbits toes or entire foot can easily get stuck in between the wire grids.

Not only this, but rabbits have extremely thin and delicate skin, so consistently sitting on wire leaves them prone to tears and sore hocks. They don’t have paw pads, just fur.

How would you like to stand on wire all the time? Would it be good for your feet? You weren’t designed to live on wire floors and rabbits weren’t either.

Yes, it can keep bunnies cooler if they live outdoors by providing more airflow…but if it’s hot enough to be dangerous, should they even really be outside in the first place?

Unfortunately common sense is a flower that doesn’t grow in everyone’s garden, but we hope that people will begin to realize how wire bottomed enclosures are NOT good for rabbits.
