Disabled Doesn’t Mean Less Than
“Imagine killing a living creature because it's easier than helping them live.”
We wholeheartedly agree with this comment, because we can’t imagine it either.
Euthanasia seems to be an easy button for disabled bunnies at far too many shelters and rescues. We aim to change that.
To us, every single bunny is worth fighting for. No amount of time, resources, or money a bunny needs will make us turn them away.
We’ve taken in partially paralyzed buns, wheelchair buns, head tilt buns, buns with broken spines, quad splays, amputees, and so many others slated for euthanasia, just because they weren’t “worth” the large amount of resources they’d need.
As long as a bunny can have a good and pain-free life, they deserve a chance too.
Disabled doesn’t mean less than, which is why we will continue to use this page to advocate for all of the extra special bunnies in our program, showing how their lives have improved. Because they can live long, fantastic lives.
We hope stories like Cheesecakes, Slimmys, Captain Carrots, etc. continue to inspire others to take in more serious medical cases.
If there is ever a medically needy bunny needing help, anywhere in the country, send us a message. We would be more than happy to offer advice, see about bringing them here, or even connect you with our vet for a virtual consult.
And that’s the Dolly’s Difference.
